FanDuel has added another state to its growing portfolio. The sports betting juggernaut debuted mobile wagering in Indiana.
Through its partnership with Boyd Gaming, FanDuel launched retail operations at Blue Chip and Belterra casinos last month and became the third mobile operator in the state.
The Indiana sports betting market grows with FanDuel
With the addition of an online FanDuel Sportsbook, Indiana now has three mobile operators, since BetRivers and DraftKingslaunched on Oct. 3. Indiana sports betting debuted with $35 million in handle and $8.5 million in revenue for September, all through retail operations.
With retail and mobile sports betting up and running, the Hoosier State can capitalize on Illinois residents looking to place wagers. Since in-person registration is not required in Indiana, anyone venturing south from Chicago only needs to cross over state lines to open an account. According to the Indiana Gaming Commission, over 40% of state revenue came from two casinos just south of the Windy City.

The FanDuel sports betting empire
The company operates mobile sports betting in New Jersey, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. FanDuel also operates retail sports betting in New York and Mississippi.
- Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey
- The Greenbrier in West Virginia
- Valley Forge in Pennsylvania
- Tioga Downs in New York (retail only)
- IP Casino Resort in Mississippi (retail only)
Sports betting and sports betting partnerships have fueled gaming talks in recent months but FanDuel continues to expand its empire through daily fantasy sports (DFS).
Earlier this month, FanDuel became the official DFS partner of the Indianapolis Colts. Although the partnership only applies to promote fantasy sports, it puts the company name next to a historic NFL franchise. It may have started as a DFS company, but FanDuel has slowly shifted to a sports betting powerhouse. Any way the company can put its name next to the NFL can be viewed as a win.
With FanDuel being the early market leader in NJ and PA, gambling insiders expect to see similar results in Indiana. Since neighboring states like Illinois are still several months away from launching sports betting, revenue numbers for October could be even more impressive than last month.
A sixth state is also on the horizon as FanDuel awaits approval to launch mobile sports betting at Boyd’s Diamond Jo casinos in Iowa.
The two biggest mobile sports betting markets in the US ended a record-setting 2020 by hitting new monthly revenue highs.
December online sports betting in New Jersey capped off a year that set the gold standard in the legal US sports betting market. Pennsylvania capped off 2020 on a streak of staggering growth through the final quarter of the year.
Both states ended up with new monthly mobile sports betting revenue records in December. Barstool Sportsbook took the No. 1 spot in Pennsylvania for the first time, and that could be a sign of things to come for the newest big player in sports betting.

FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM Sit Atop The Mountain State
West Virginia’s mobile sportsbooks finished off 2020 on a steady stream of revenue production. October ($2,516,871) marked the all-time monthly high for online sports betting revenue, followed by similar numbers in November ($2,475,134) and December ($2,421,104).
